OLIVER IS SPECIAL NEEDS. Oliver is rear paralyzed. He requires daily manual bladder expression. He is a little moody. He can be a challenge. He is not for an inexperienced adopter or one who has no experience with paralysis and its financial requirements and physical requirements. Oliver requires a special diet or Urinary SO food only. His paralysis causes him to have bladder stones so his diet restrictions are mandatory. His has had surgery for bladder stone removal and recent issues with stone recurrence which is now solved.
He is an awesome dog but needs a skilled adopter with dogs and one with managing paralysis. If you have no experience then please do not apply. He is not a science experiment.
If you read this far, then you might like to know he is a nice guy that we feel had been harmed in his past and can get snappy. We have found ways to calm him to allow us to break through his fear aggression. He is really a pretty nice guy but has certain triggers we believe from his past that cause a bit of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde in him. He gets along with other dogs and seems to be fine with a new kitten we brought in recently. We hope to get him a cart soon. He has been vetted and has his vaccinations, neuter, and microchip. We will getting him a dental soon,
He isn't an easy adopt and if you can't adopt him but wish to help by sponsoring his care we would be grateful! If you are interested in adopting him, please email us at RescueTailsAnimalWelfare@gmail.com. We adopt only in the local Chicago metro area. We do require in home visits. We are volunteers with full time jobs. We try to get back to all inquiries within 48 hours.
